Commentary of Nash-Tellqvist Trade

Earlier this week the Coyotes sent Tyson Nash and a fourth round pick in the 2007 draft to The Maple Leafs for 3rd-string goalie Mikael Tellqvist. It's hard not to go to anyway hockey channel and not hear about the Leafs in Canada. Who won in this trade? The Leafs of course, and I'm not sure what Gretzky was thinking about when he pulled the trigger. If you look in the Coyotes goal they already have Cujo, Morrison (in minors), LeNeveu and now Tellqvist. Is 4 goalies the lucky charm? I doubt it. On the other hand, Tyson Nash is a poor man's Darcy Tucker...a really poor man's. He's very expendable in the Leafs organization. The odds of Nash going down to the minors is great. I guess the positives in this trade is that the Coyotes get a slightly more experience back-up goalie than they already have now and the Leafs get a mid-row draft pick.
If the Great One is looking for some grit and experience to jump start his Coyotes, he should start thinking about picking up LeClair that was put on waivers last night. With a price tag of $1.5M (he's on the last year of his contract), the three-time 50 goal scorer would be a great role player in the desert. LeClair said in the Pittsbergh Post Gazette "Hopefully, something will change because it's not a great situation for me. You have to make the best of it, but, hopefully, something happens." Lets not see him end his career light Anderchuck, and go out with some dignity.
